Here we will show you the best way to do it only for those minor cases (less than 1 sq.ft). Mold can be very harmful to human health and it should be taken care of with caution.
First of all, wear the right clothing to cover all your skin, use a mask to cover mouth and nose, gloves and clear glasses to protect your eyes, preferably disposable items as they could end up with mold spores after the process.
The only areas we recommend removing mold on your own would be the areas with one of the following materials:
-
Tile
-
Concrete
-
Metal
For any other material, seek professional help.
First of all, you need to make sure you have stopped the main source of moisture, if you have a leak you would like to start by fixing it and then continue with the following 5 steps to remove mold:
1- Remove all the things you have near the surface, make up some space. And make sure there’s not strong air currents near the area, this could spread mold spores to other areas while you’re doing the following steps.
2- Look for regular white vinegar, water, two spray containers, a brush or sponge, cleaning cloth and a cleaning towel.
3- Fill up one of the containers with the white vinegar, start spraying the vinegar throughout the affected area and let it sit for at least 60 minutes (walk away in the meantime)
4- Take the sponge or brush (depending on the surface, brush is best for concrete), fill up the second spray container with water, spray the area with the water and scrub away all the visible mold spots.
5- Finish it up by using a cleaning towel to dry out the surface, remember this is very important to prevent mold re-growth
